Laura began studying the violin at the age of six.
From the age of eight Laura began participating and winning competitions such as the Weston Junior Arts Festival, and the Bristol and Bath Festivals.
A few years later, Laura received a prestigious scholarship to study Violin and Flute at the Junior Department of the Royal college of Music. Here she excelled in her Quartet, Trio and the Junior RCM Symphony Orchestra. With the Royal College of Music Laura performed at many of London’s top concert Venues, including St John’s Smith Square, the Albert Hall and the Purcell Rooms. Laura’s RCMDJD Trio performed with the Royal Ballet School.
At the age of 13, Laura appeared on Blue Peter performing a violin solo, joined the West Of England Schools Symphony Orchestra as one of it’s youngest members, touring Europe on a regular basis and received a scholarship to study at a prestigious chamber music course, pro Corda.
In 2009 Laura gained a place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she studied with Marius Bedeschi. Whilst at the RWCMD, she performed and was principal Violinist for the Royal Welsh College of Music Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.
Whilst studying at the RWCMD and RCM and under the excellent tutorage of Andrew Sherwood, Laura performed the Bruch Violin Concert, touring Holland with the SCYO.
A couple of years later, Laura performed both for a United Nations Summit with the world leaders of religion present, and in November 2015, Laura performed as a soloist for David and Samantha Cameron at No.10 Downing Street, as well as recording for worldwide TV advertisements.
In more recent years, Laura has gone on to perform with the Bristol String Quartet for weddings, corporate events and concerts, as well as choral societies and various theatre shows.
More recently Laura has established herself as a wedding soloist and also runs her own string quartet, the Diamond String Quartet.
As well as an in demand soloist, Laura has been teaching the violin and flute for 13 years, and has taught all abilities and ages, at various schools and from her private studio at home. She believes in the fundamentals of teaching, getting the technical aspects of playing right from the start. Laura has a 100% pass rate and students of Laura’s have gone on to receive high distinctions in ABRSM exams, as well as joining prestigious children’s orchestras.
